I *could* listen to an alternate genre, but what's the point in that? :P

Tatey, you're probably right there.

Though, I do have a crazy suggestion: try different genres. :-P

Ash, the production values are understandably lacklustre in some instances, with most of the bands having to record the songs themselves. The songs are there for people to listen to and go "hey, I like what you do with the guitar", and gain a general appreciation for the song and what the artists are trying to do.

Part of the reason that the Unearthed programme was started up all those years ago was because at the time it was extremely difficult for young, upcoming or otherwise obscure bands with a neat sound to get their work published. These days with widespread use of the internet, it is somewhat easier to get your music heard, but still, not every band can afford to have their work recorded and produced professionally.

Hence, some pretty low bitrate, high feedbackrate, low quality recordings. :D

You could always try a different genre I guess, Tatey.

The thing I'm apprehensive about Triple J ?Unearthed is that a lot of the music is of a very poor recording quality. Sure, some of it's catchy, but I've yet to hear something that doesn't sound like shit.

I guess I should check out the bands you've recommended, but I don't often have the time or incentive tbh.

While I generally prefer to support Australian produced products and services, the Europeans undoubtedly dominate the metal genre. Unfortunately, I'm yet to discover an Australian metal band that's worth listening to.
