It cost a bit more than $2442 actually. All up I think I spent about $2700, including $200 for a desk.

To me, it's not noisy. It has four 120mm fans in the case, two 80mm fans on the video card, one 92mm fan in the power supply and one 92mm (I think) fan on the stock CPU heatsink+fan.

All of the 120mm fans are either speed controlled with a switch or thermally controlled (temp goes up, speed of fan goes up). As it is, it makes a slightly audible "soft breeze" sound. The P182 has good sound deadening (panels made from plastics and metal), but the most important part is that the mechanically noisy parts of the case - the hard drives - are isolated with rubbery grommits, meaning the hard drives are not directly touching the metal of the case.

Unfortunately the same design is not used in the 5.25" drive bays, so when the ridiculously fast DVD-RW drive spins up it does make a bit of a racket. But who reads from plastic disc media these days anyway?
